Weak no-trump 12-14, four-card majors. Points are high card points unless it says otherwise, length and shortage points count only once you have a fit. Game needs 25 between you.

Side 1

1. Opening bids

Opening bids
Your hand Open
0-11Pass

1NT, even with a poor five-card major. Only a very good five-card major (two of A-K-Q) opens the suit

Unequal suits: longest suit first. Two suits of 5+ cards: higher-ranking first. Two four-card suits: the lower-ranking. A four-card suit needs an honour at its head

15-19 balanced, no biddable four-card suit

Prepared minor: 1 or 1 on three to an honour (1 from 3-3). With a biddable four-card major, open the major and rebid NT
